The Orihuela Costa Information Guide.
Welcome to The O.C.
The Orihuela Costa is the jewel in the crown of the Southern Costa Blanca.Holiday makers from all over Europe flock to the Orihuela Costa due to the wonderful, safe, clean and well looked after "blue flag" awarded beaches (with lifeguards – Cruz Rojo in July, August & September), the fine climate and the choice of hundreds of bars, cafes, restaurants, Glofing & Sporting facilities and entertainment venues to suit all tastes and, that relaxing 'do nothing' feel that a beach holiday can provide.
The region too, has adventure for those in need of some excitement, with Scuba Diving, Sailing Classes, trips to theme parks and nearby aqua parks in abundance, all are catered for from the accessible roadways and tour company offers. The Orihuela Costa boasts some of the Southern Costa Blanca's best jewels & popular beach and Golfing resorts including Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Punta Prima and Campoamor.
These are all dotted along and slightly inland from the N332 coastal road between Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada and are easily accessed from this road and from the AP-7 motorway ( An AP on a motorway denotes a toll road). As with much of the Costa Blanca, The Orihuela Costa enjoys the benefits of a Mediterranean Climate and is alledged to be one of the healthiest places on earth to live (according the W.H.O Statistics), with an average of 320 days of sunshine each year and has an average temperature of around 20 degrees centigrade, low pollution and very low rainfall (2007 & 2008 being exceptions to date).
The temperatures can soar during July and August when it can reach 40 degrees very easily and higher. In the winter the temperatures rarely fall below double figures (although 2008 was a particularly cold and long winter, with nightime temperatures getting below 5 degrees celcius regularly).
Please note that The O.C. Guides are independent guides and are not a division of the local Government. Any official enquiries should be made directly to the Ayuntamiento.
