Punta Prima.

Punta Prima (travelling North to South, is the first point of the Orihuela Costa, bordering neighbouring Torrevieja. Punta Prima and it's local areas sweep uphill from the Mediterranean, to Los Altos at the top and along the coastline to meet Playa Flamenca on the N332, just past the Punta Prima Water Tower, a well known local landmark..
Punta Prima boasts 2 beautiful beaches, one at the Nautilaus Restaurant, (just having a major face lift and the sea wall re-building and is actually part of Torreiveja, as is that particular section of Punta Prima) and the other (walled and a great sun-trap) below Restaurante Punta Prima, with a rocky expanse in between (great for taking dogs in summer, when they are not permitted onto sandy, bathing beaches); an ideal spot for the many fishermen that use it. The expanse of coastline makes the whole area of the Oihuela Costa excellent for coastal walks and hikes, as the whole coast is accessible by foot, more or less from the beginning to end.
There is a plethora of cafes, bars, restaurants, not just beachside, but in the Comercial Punta Marina (Mall), and dotted along both sides of the N332, offering delights to suit all tastes and budgets, from
gut-busting and recession busting breakfasts, to Chinese buffets, fish and chips, carveries and traditional Spanish tapas, Itallian dishes and of course, Sangria and an abundance of other drinks, snacks and shopping.
Each Urbanisation in the Punta Prima area, along the coast and uphill, has it's own comercial centres like Via Park 3 and Via Park 5, offering both residents and visitors alike watering holes and all types of dining to suit all tastes and budgets.

Recommended for Punta Prima. In no particular order.

Restaurante Punta Prima.
From tapas to paella and mouth watering fillet steaks. Situated right abouve the walled beach at Punta Prima, this stunning and beautifully traditional restaurant packs them into it's 4 different dining and drinking areas, with picturesque views over the Mediterranean.

El Carmen.
Modern coffee boutique, great coffees, teas and chocolate caliente (hot chocolate), a massive range of cakes and pastries and chocolates. Not cheap, but definitely worth a treat.

Nautilus Chiringito.
1st floor, Punta Marina Mall. Go for the 2 euro breakfast. Great value and great hangover food.

Patio Andaluz.
N332 Punta Marina Mall. If you are a real tourist, want some Flamenco (tues & thurs) with your dinner, or sit in a traditional Spanish Restaurant whose cieling is made from grape vines (and they still grow grapes), this is for you. Do a very nice menu del dia.

Wok Buffet.
Punta Marina Mall. For amazing value for money, this all-you-can-eat buffet is a sure-fire hit. Stuff your face with a large range of starters & sushi, fresh, cooked before you eyes mains and fresh fruits & ice cream desserts to tempt the tastebuds. Drinks can be a little bit pricey though.

Punta Prima has plenty to offer and like much of the rest of the Orihuela Costa, it is easy to reach and easy to get around, either by foot, car or public transport.
