Finding a Dentist on the Orihuela Costa and surrounding areas, is possibly a lot easier than you think.
All along the coast and inland, from Punta Prima to Playa Flamenca, to La Zenia, Villamartin to Campoamor and Cabo Roig to Mil Palmeras, you will find a range of  Dental Practices, many of them fluent in many different languages and many of them a lot more reasonably priced than you may think.

What price a Dentist ?
A good question. But another good question is how do you value your pearly whites ?, your gleaming smile ? your general health ?
We all know that getting a good, reliable and well priced Dentist can be like gold dust, so it is always best to shop around, ask questions, think possibly about specialist Dental Insurance, but make sure that you find a Dentist  that you are comfortable with, as this is one of the most inportant factors in making your choice.

The fear factor associated with Dentists can be avoided if you know that you can trust your Dentist and feel comfortable with whomever you choose. Good oral care is more than brushing your teeth and using floss and a mouthwash occasionally.
Good dental hygiene attributes to good general health and wellbeing and visiting your Dentist is an important part of keeping your general health up to scratch.

Private Dentist or NHS ?

In Spain, including the Communidad de Valencia, where the Orihuela Costa is situated, there is no State Dental Service, therefore if you are seeking a Dentist, you will have to go private.
As we have already stated, you may wish to look toward Health Insurance, or if you are a resident and are working and registered at the Salud (Cabo Roig) and you have to access frequent dental services, then you may wish to enquire about specialist dental insurance.
As with the multitude of Dental Surgeries along the Orihuela Costa, so there are insurance companies that will offer you dental insurance, seperate to General Health Insurance or as part of a package.

When either choosing your Dentist, or considering an  Dental Insurance Policy, take the following into account:-

  • Make sure that you know what your insurances cover and do not cover.
  • Ask about renewals (many companies here simply take it for granted that you will renew every year and usually have a clause in the small print that states you have to give a minimum notice period if you wish to cancel the policy.
  • Talk to your Dentist before taking an insurance policy. You will want to know which services are not covered. Also, it may be that you will not need insurance if you do not need to attend a Dentist regularly.
  • Get a rate of prices for the various treatments, consultations etc
  • Ask about treatment guarantees. Some Dentists will offer a guarantee against their work or your treatment.
  • Make sure there are no hidden costs.

These are just a few points to consider when you are looking for  a Dentist on the Orihula Costa. Like finding a G.P. finding a Dentist can be a painstaking task, but if you find one that you feel confortable with, it makes that painful (and frightening for some) journey easier.
